Ice Fishing in Maine
Ice fishing for brook trout, landlocked salmon, and lake trout on Maine lakes in the winter is a tradition. Come and enjoy some of the best winter fishing opportunities in North America. Ice Fishing season runs January 1st through March 31st. As Maine's lakes freeze over, we switch gears to ice fishing. We offer fully guided ice fishing trips that include tackle, bait, and heated ice shelter when needed. Jigging is a very popular method of ice fishing, especially for lake trout. We target several popular lake trout lakes each winter catching many fish jigging within the comforts of a warm ice shack. It is hard to compare the excitement of hooking a 10lb lake trout on a 26in. jig rod to any other type of fishing.
Ice fishing for salmon can be the most fast paced fishing you have ever experienced. Salmon typically feed on smelt, a small plentiful coldwater baitfish found in cold freshwater lakes. When the salmon go on a smelt feeding frenzy, it is sometime difficult to keep all the tip-ups baited and fishing at one time.
